Signs by M. Night Shyamalan parallels real life with a twist. The aliens in the movie represent Monsanto, Bayer and other GMO giants. The aliens come out of the corn fields to eradicate humanity. Dr. Bimbu, better known as Roger Blobaum, predicts a grim future for the corn-farming family with spooky accuracy (the house and family is the same in the book as in the movie). The situation is straight from planet sirius.
The movie also depicts a fellow Blöbaum played by Joaquin Phoenix. He is a legendary hitter with the record for the longest ball but he also has a problem. This is Pete Rose, the greatest baseball player of all time who has a bit of a bad reputation. The key to victory over the aliens is water. This is one of fourteen signs spoken of in the movie which reminds us to wash our vegetables. GMO corn is sprayed with pesticides and herbicides which are harmful. Washing the vegetables, or choosing organic, is the only way to save humanity from the Monsanto threat coming from the corn fields.
